Comparing Complete and Incomplete Metamorphosis Reading Passages and Activities

This resource includes two reading comprehension passages - one about complete metamorphosis and one about incomplete metamorphosis. Students will complete a variety of activities around these reading passages, including answering comprehension questions, filling in a chart, and having a snowball fight or scavenger hunt that requires students to compare and contrast the two types of metamorphosis (for your ELA class or to help you integrate science with reading).

These activities are designed to help your students learn about the differences and similarities between these two types of metamorphosis in a fun and engaging way.

• 1 page reading passage about complete metamorphosis with comprehension questions
• 1 page reading passage about incomplete metamorphosis with comprehension questions
• 1 chart for students to fill in comparing and contrasting complete vs incomplete metamorphosis
• 1 snowball fight activity and/or scavenger hunt activity that has students compare and contrast the two types of metamorphosis
• grading rubric and answer keys

This is a fun whole class compare and contrast activity for third grade, fourth grade, or fifth grade students. The reading passages and chart can be used in small groups, for homework, for additional practice, or with partners.
