Common Core Poetry Task Cards-Grades 3-5- Analyzing Poetry Center

This is a fun little set of poetry task cards designed for use in Grade 3 through Grade 5 Classrooms. Included in the set are 5 original poems, 20 task cards, and a recording sheet for student use.

This set of twenty cards are based off of a series of 5 poems included in the set. Students will read each of the poems and answer four questions/writing prompts about each of the poems. The types of questions included are:
- Identifying Stanzas
-Finding examples of figurative language
-Comparing poems
-Using poetry to generate informational text
-Inferring meaning of poetic lines
-Identifying similes and exaggerations in writing
-Identifying the speaker in a poem
-Relating poetry to one's self
-Writing short poems that follow a rhyme scheme

This set was created to engage your students and guide them into working with a poetic text. The poems are kid friendly, some being serious in nature, while others aiming to be fun to read. This set will make a great addition to literacy workstations or acceleration for early finishers. File folders or manila folders make great storage for this set as well. .
