What educators are saying

There aren't a lot of resources available on this standard that are of good quality, and was pleased with the alignment of the material from this author.

Description

This product was created to address Common Core Language Standard L.4.5b: Recognize and explain the meaning of common idioms, adages, and proverbs.

This printable explains clearly to grade 4-6 students what the difference is between idioms, adages, and proverbs. Definitions and appropriate examples of each are provided. An independent practice section with 25 phrases that students need to label as an idiom, adage, or proverb follows this. Answers are provided. There is also a list of five grade-level appropriate extension activities which I have found successful giving students practice in using these sayings.
