What educators are saying

This was a fun activity to do, and my students loved being able to do an art project instead of the boring history textbook.

Description

I use this art project as a final project to conclude our study of the 13 Colonies. It can also be adapted as a small research project. The assignment entails creating a recruitment poster focusing on one of the 13 colonies or a famous settlement like Jamestown or Plymouth.

Included in this project are the Student Handout, which provides detailed directions and requirements, as well as a section for students to brainstorm and sketch their poster. Additionally, there is a Basic Information document available, which can be used to support students who may require extra assistance (or as a quick way for you to check students' work). Lastly, examples of posters created by my previous students are provided.

All of these resources are accessible through Google Drive. Once you make a copy of each document, you can freely edit them to suit your needs.
