Description

Who knew that the boring coffee filter could produce such gorgeous flowers? This fun paper flower activity supports the teaching of color theory and color blending. Supports Brownie and Girl Scout badges. All supplies needed are inexpensive and readily available. Students love the creativity of using basic colors and getting some fantastic, blended results. I have included detailed, step by step instructions with photos and printables. Some slides can be projected to encourage student engagement. I have also included printables for a writing prompt. Have the students write about their experience and their observations.

These flowers can be affixed to chopsticks or straws as mentioned, or they can attach to the students’ pencils. For a wonderful Mother’s Day project, have the students make three flowers on short sticks, and stick them into a small flowerpot with Styrofoam in it.

It is a natural compliment to my Coffee Filter Color/Colour Wheel Activity.
