What educators are saying

This was a great motivational movie, and having the resource helped me to add some key teaching points to it.

Description

Coach Carter is based off the true story of Coach Ken Carter who made national news when he benched his entire RIchmond High School basketball team for failing to uphold the academic portion of their contract. Coach Carter set high standards for his players and wanted to instill values in them to benefit their future.

This film would be great when studying leadership, discipline, and/or character development. One could also use it after reading Jasmine Jones' book, Coach Carter. It would also work for a last minute lesson plan or sub plans. The film stars Samuel L. Jackson, Octavia Spencer, Rob Brown, Channing Tatum, Ashanti, Robert Ri'chard, Rick Gonzalez, Nana Gbewonyo, and Antwon Tanner.

My movie guide contains 45 questions and an answer key has been provided for your convenience. The film's runtime is 136 minutes and it is rated PG-13 for violence, sexual content, language, teen partying and some drug material. I would encourage you to view the film beforehand to make sure it is suitable for your students.
