Description

Clean up time can be frustrating, but it does not have to be that way in YOUR classroom!  This resource provides you with the tools you need to create a smooth clean up routine in no time.  The step-by-step visuals, social story, song lyrics, and “heads up” visuals that are included in this clean up routine product are exactly what you need to get your students cleaning up independently!

What is included in this product?

In this clean up routine resource, you will get your hands on…

  • clean up routine visual cards (clip art, stock photos, and real-life classroom photos).
  • “Clean Up Time” social story.
  • “Clean up time is coming!” visuals (for giving students a heads up that work time is almost over).
  • song lyrics for 3 clean up songs (these cute slides can be projected on your SmartBoard).

How is this product different from other clean up resources?

  • The individual cards allow you to create a clean up routine that is specific to YOUR classroom!  Personalize your visuals by displaying the cards that apply to your clean up routine (and skipping those that do not).
  • This resource includes clip art, stock photos, AND real-life photos taken from our classroom.  Choose the option (or a combination) that you prefer.
  • The product in its entirety is 43 pages...with 28 of those pages being the clean up time visuals, song lyrics, and social story.

How can this product be used?

The clean up visual cards can be displayed on a vertical ribbon (this is my favorite way), poster board, or chart paper.  You might consider gathering the cards with a binder ring, so the visuals are portable.  In this way, you can bring the clean up visuals to individuals who may need extra support.

The social story pages can be printed and used as a read aloud book.  You might instead choose to save your ink and cardstock by projecting the pages on your SmartBoard as you read aloud and discuss the story with your students.

The “Clean up time is coming!” visuals can be attached to a paint stir stick or ruler.  When there are just a few minutes of work time left, ask your Student of the Day to walk around the classroom with the stick, while informing each classmate that “Clean up time is coming!”  Giving your students a heads up that clean up time is coming soon will - no doubt - decrease the likelihood of tantrums.  Simply giving your students this heads up will increase their ownership around having a tidy classroom.

Keep your students on track during the clean up process by singing songs!  This resource includes lyrics for 3 different clean up time songs.  The lyrics were created to be cute visuals that can be displayed on your SmartBoard when you teach the song.  Keeping the lyrics up during clean up time can be helpful for other adults in your classroom.

What is so great about this product?

When you use this clean up routine resource in your classroom, your expectations will be clear and your students will have the necessary tools to be successful at clean up time.  They will know when to clean up, how to clean up, what to do when they are done cleaning up . . . and everything in between.
