Description
This USEFUL TEACHER TOOL is a checklist of GENERAL CLASSROOM accommodations to help students feel and be successful in your classroom and help your classroom run smoothly! Every child and classroom is different, so I have included a variety of accommodations to try! This list has been a life-saver in my classroom, year after year! **You may also find this checklist useful if you homeschool your children!
The checklist contains columns to record the date the accommodation started, the duration of the accommodation, whether or not the accommodation worked, and a place to take notes. I’ve also included a blank checklist for you to add and keep track of your own accommodations. By using this simple checklist, you are collecting the data you need to help your student(s) feel and be more successful in your classroom! You will also be able to share the data you have collected with parents, your principal, and members of your school’s intervention or RTI/MTSS team.
TO USE: Print off the checklist and write the student’s initials on it. If you are using it for your classroom as a whole, there would be no need to write a student’s name on it. Put the checklist on a clipboard near your desk where it is accessible. Try each accommodation for at least 7-10 days to determine if it works or not. Often times I may be trying 2-3 accommodations simultaneously; such as using a timer during transitions, using visual cues (a quiet sign), and having a visual schedule posted on the board.
Below is a list of accommodations that you may need to find or create in advance. Not all accommodations on the list require purchases!!
*Flexible seats (wiggle seats, stools, carpet squares, wobble seats, etc.)
*Graphic organizers
*Visual daily schedule
*Timer
*Writing utensils
I hope you find this checklist as useful and handy as I do! I seem to add accommodations to this list every year, and when I add more, I will be sure to update this checklist. Feel free to leave me feedback and let me know how these accommodations are working in your classroom!
