Description
Building classroom community is key to running a successful classroom and building relationships! While many people will be teaching remotely/digitally there still needs to be a way to hold your morning meeting time and work on building that sense of community. Being able to do it in a way where your student's are still engaged, sharing, and learning is key!
Classroom Community Question of the Day is a set of slides to use with your student's on a daily basis to build classroom community and to get to know your student's on a more personal level.
You can use the resource during your morning meeting time or even your math block time as a math warm up. Being NO CONTACT all your student's need is their fingers! Display the slide or slides you want for the day and student's answer the question by holding up the corresponding amount of fingers that go with their answer. No need to touch dry erase markers/white boards. Student's can then discuss why they choose the answer that they did, from a socially distanced space, with other the teacher as well as peers in their room, thus building classroom community!
TO USE DIGITALLY: You will want to share your screen with your students via a platform such as Google Meet or Zoom. Once shared and your student's can see the slide they can share their answers to the question the same way they would in class, with their fingers! Count the amount the is below your answer and show that many fingers.
Another great aspect of this resource is that you are working on counting, subitizing, understanding and using base ten blocks and tally marks!
