Description

Classifying chemical reactions with this Types of Chemical Reactions card sort is a fun and engaging activity. Students classify six types of reactions: synthesis reactions, decomposition reactions, single replacement reactions, double displacement reactions, combustion reactions, and neutralization reactions.

This easy-to-use 54-card classifying chemical reactions card sort is a great way to help students master identifying the types of chemical reactions. Just copy, laminate, and cut, and these versatile cards will add variety, engagement, and differentiation to your classroom and lessons.


Using A Card Sort

There are a variety of ways to use a card sort:

  • Preview—Working in groups, as an introduction to the lesson, students can sort these cards based on their prior experience. Use with or without the Category and Definition cards to change the difficulty of the activity based on your students abilities.
  • Practice—After teaching your students about classifying matter, students can work individually or in groups to practice classifying matter.
  • Review—These cards are great any time you feel your students need to review this skill.
  • Games—Whether you play Quiz, Quiz, Trade or a rousing game of trashketball, these cards are the perfect addition.
