Description

This worksheet and rubric can be used for a peer review process after a lab report based on the claim evidence reasoning format has been written. The peer review process encourages communication, collaboration and critical thinking about science.

The protocol can be used with any science class and is easily adapted to other claim evidence reasoning writing formats.

Learning Targets:

1. I can apply the claim, evidence, reasoning format to my writing.

2. I can assess the work of my peers using a rubric.

3. I can provide useful feedback to my peers about their writing.

Directions:

Peer review is an important part of writing in science. Scientists must have their peers, other scientists review their writing and thinking before it published. Today we will model that process.

You will work with your lab partners to review and assess the claim they made, the evidence they provided and the reasons they gave for saying the evidence supports their claim. In each group one person will share their writing at a time. Use this note-catcher to record notes about their writing. Share your feedback at the end. Rotate turns until everyone has shared.
