Description

This Black History Month PowerPoint has 20 Civil Rights Movement journal writing prompts to enrich your unit of study. The twenty writing prompts encourage critical thinking about social injustice and strategies for change and provide you with journal writing activities for a full month. This digital resource has references to historical figures like Nelson Mandela, Presidents Kennedy, Eisenhower, and Johnson students can research. Use in January after winter break in conjunction with preparing for the Martin Luther King holiday or in February to go with a unit on Black History. Includes prompts for opinion writing, expository and argument writing, comparison contrast, and many require evidence to support reasoning. Project the prompts on your white board to show the thought-provoking illustrations or hide the background and make printable notes.

Use PowerPoints in video conferencing or Zoom for remote learning in a virtual classroom. Share in OneDrive and Microsoft Teams, too. You can also upload to Google Drive and save as Google Slides.
