- PDF
Description
Civil Rights Movement: if you are studying the Civil Rights Movement then this poster will fit right into your lessons.
Let your students show what they've learned about their studies of the Civil Rights Movement by using this 8.5 x 11 poster. This poster will look great hanging outside your classroom, and parents will enjoy reading them when they are sent home.
I have marked this poster for grades 4-5, but please read the topics below to help you decide if it will work for you.
Grab your media specialist, check books out from the library to have in class, use your social studies book, watch videos, go to the computer lab, etc. Use whatever resources you would like to have students fill in the information.
NOTE: Don't forget to check my store for a HUGE variety of poster activities..... get one for all the holidays and other topics, too.
The Civil Rights Movement poster activity has plenty of places for students to add their own creative touches with color.
The sections for the students to fill out as a writing activity are:
*Place for their name
* How did the Civil Rights movement change the United States?
*People were willing to risk their lives because...
*Tell About 2 Triumphs for Civil Rights (they will name 2 events, such as Brown vs. Board of Ed. and tell what the victory was)
*Amendments for Equal Rights Preceding the Civil Rights Movement. Tell about the 13,14, and 15th Amendments (This is before the Civil Rights Movement, but it is a good look back at rights)
*Martin’s Message - fill in the quote speech bubble above the MLK image
*I can help maintain the dream by….
*Space to list a couple of other facts
Use as a center activity, homework project, partner activity, before standardized testing, part of a unit test review, etc. Also, it's perfect for a sub. project if you have already studied these topics. Use it in your classroom however you would like.
