This paired text resource is perfect for having your students practice citing evidence from a text when answering questions and when writing persuasive essays.

This resource includes eight paired text sets. Each set includes two paragraph-length texts sharing an opinion on a topic. Each paragraph in the set shares a differing or opposing opinion.
Each text set includes several opportunities for the students to practice answering questions using textual evidence. Each set comes up with two text-dependent questions that require textual evidence and a printable activity of some kind that is text-dependent.
In addition to the questions and printable activities, each paired text set includes a text-based writing prompt. For the writing prompts, the students must decide their opinions on the topics. Then, the students must write persuasive essays using evidence from both texts to support their opinions.
Since there are eight complete sets included in this resource, some of the sets could be used for practice and some for assessment. This is a perfect resource to prepare your students for standards based assessments.
