What educators are saying

I loved using this as a review for area and circumference. It was interactive and let them do a lot of examples and have practice of writing area and circumference in terms of pi.

Description

In this VIRTUAL, PAPERLESS ACTIVITY, students DETERMINE RADIUS, DIAMETER, EXACT AREA, & EXACT CIRCUMFERENCE of CIRCLES. Perfect for DISTANCE LEARNING, HYBRID, OR IN-CLASS...it's a great interactive practice, review, or assessment activity for basic geometry/measurement skills. Two Versions included: Google Slides AND Microsoft Powerpoint.

This activity includes 15 Slides with 4 Circle Problems on each Slide:

  • 4 Circle Problems per Slide: The circle pics show either Radius or Diameter (student must determine which is given). Students then drag the correct values for the 4 key measurements (Radius, Diameter, Area, & Circumference) into the answer spaces. Area & Circumference draggable pieces show answers in terms of pi.
  • Color coded - the pieces with pi are a different color...easy for you to tell at a glance if a student is choosing the wrong values or forgetting about pi. In other words...radius/diameter answers are the same color and area/circumference answers are a different color.
  • The problems progress in difficulty (see preview for exact problems). Slides 1-6 show Radius and Diameter horizontally for easier reading. Slides 7-12 show Radius and Diameter spun to point in different directions. Slides 1-8 have 2 Radius problems first followed by 2 Diameter problems. Slides 9-12 mix up Radius and Diameter so students must pay closer attention. Slides 13-15 give Area or Circumference and students must work backwards to find find Radius & Diameter.

Ideas for Using this Resource:

  • Use for CLASSWORK/HOMEWORK after teaching the lessons.
  • Use as BELLWORK or SPIRAL REVIEW. 15 different slides included - you could do 1 a day for 3 whole weeks of class.
  • Use for SCAFFOLDING the skills.
  • Use as a tool for DIFFERENTIATION. Each slide only has 4 problems - easily managed by struggling students. Faster/more confident students could do more problems in one practice session. OR...assign the more challenging slides to the students ready for greater challenges.
  • Use for quick FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT.
  • Use for CORRECTIVES, REMEDIATION, OR RETEACHING. With 15 different slides included...you have many options for choosing how to utilize them to best serve your students.
