Description

Wondering what you can do to commemorate this Mexican holiday, Cinco de Mayo? Well, look no further I have Cinco de Mayo activities to make your task easier and engaging! Here are activities for multiple subjects—social studies, writing, math, and vocabulary building. There is little preparation to save valuable teacher-time. Links to resources make content learning easy for you with a couple accessible for students.

Content differentiation is easy with several of the pages and answer keys make checking easier for you. The content is geared for second or third graders, some as distributive practice; but most can be used by on-level first graders, struggling older students, or those with autism or developmental disabilities. Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones. Understand the following as special cases:
Compare two two-digit numbers based on meanings of the tens and ones digits, recording the results of comparisons with the symbols >, =, and <.
