Description

This spring, the 2024 cicadas will emerge across parts of the eastern U.S. This digital slides resource about cicadas saves you the time of searching for information, articles, and videos!

If you purchased this resource in 2021, it is NOW UPDATED for 2024!

The billions of periodical cicadas emerging this year will certainly have your students asking questions and perhaps feeling confused and frightened. This resource will help students understand what to expect, and will guide your teaching about cicadas!

This digital presentation is perfect for whole-group discussion, or can also be assigned via Google Classroom™ as it is presented in either a PowerPoint or Google Slides™ format. Please be aware that links are provided to videos via outside websites and YouTube. They WILL pop up via full screen (without surrounding ads), but are not provided through a “safe-tube” format.

Students in the upper elementary grades will be better prepared as readers to explore these slides independently, however students in the younger grades can also take part in the learning with a teacher's guidance and support!

Not affected by cicadas this year? They are still fascinating to learn about! Use this resource as a way to keep students engaged in end-of-the-year research projects, science insect study units, or animal research reports.

Looking for a fun follow-up project to this resource? Check out this Cicadas Lapbook! Save on both resources by purchasing the mini-bundle here!
