What educators are saying
Description
During this lesson I give each student a heart to hold. I read the book out loud to them. Each time they heard a student in the story bullying and not using nice words they wrinkled the heart a little.
At the end we tried to smooth out the heart. The students learn that their not-so-nice words wrinkle someone else's heart and it's hard to fix it once it's said. A meaningful way to teach empathy, love, and kindness to students of ALL ages!
Establishing a caring SEL lesson is an import component of a successful classroom.
