Students cut out and rearrange the letters in Chrysanthemum's name to build new words. Then, students choose three words they built and use them in a sentence.
- Superb Summary
Students complete a summary organizer (Someone, Wanted, But, So, Then) and then write a summary paragraph.
- Comparing and Contrasting Chrysanthemum
Differentiated Venn Diagram organizers for both drawing and writing. Students can compare & contrast Chrysanthemum with another character from the story, or choose 2 characters to compare & contrast.
- Chrysanthemum’s Character Traits
Students record Chrysanthemum's character traits on a brainstorming web. Then, students can name three character traits Chrysanthemum has and write/draw evidence from the story.
- Chrysanthemum’s Sensational Sequencing
Students cut out story events and glue them in the correct order on the opposite side of the page.
- Chrysanthemum’s Changing Feelings
Students identify a feeling word to describe how Chrysanthemum felt at the beginning and the end of the story and support ideas by writing about or illustrating specific events from the story.
MATH ACTIVITIES:
- Numbers in Our Names: Letters in Name Tally/Graph
Students collect data and count the letters in each of their classmates' names. Then, students tally, graph, and interpret data.
- Mailbox Math
