Description

Do you love teaching the traditions of Christmas Around the World? Put a new twist on it with this scavenger hunt / escape room. After watching the video hook, your students will be ready to help Santa as they visit 15 countries.

This product is a zipped file with three separate scavenger hunt / escape room activities. Each one has five countries in it.

There isn't much of anything more exciting that waiting for Santa to bring gifts around the world on Christmas Eve. But Santa's GPS is broken! Your students will have to help Santa find the next country he should visit.

Students begin with a leveled reading comprehension passage and two questions. The challenge is to find the code word for each answer.

Once students have found all the answers, they must unscramble the letters to find the mystery word. The mystery word is the next country for Santa to visit.

The reading passages are all original, written by a teacher (me) about the Christmas traditions in fifteen countries. They're at a reading level for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.

Christmas Around the World is so much fun for students. This takes it a step further. The students can't help Santa if they can't find the clues in the reading passages. The fifteen countries are shown in the preview. Here's a list:

  • ► Italy
  • ► France
  • ► Germany
  • ► Spain
  • ► England
  • ► Mexico
  • ► Brazil
  • ► Argentina
  • ► Peru
  • ► Australia
  • ► Russia

  • ► Norway
  • ► Canada
  • ► Switzerland

Level up the learning and reading engagement of your students with this Christmas Scavenger Hunt Around the World Escape room. They won't even realize they're learning!

You can extend the fun by adding this non-Christmas Holidays Around the World ELA Scavenger Hunt / Escape Room to your holiday activities.

  • Are you hoping it's a NO-PREP resource? Just print the student pages, share the video hook, and you're set!
  • Are you hoping it's rigorous and meets standards in reading? It meets reading standards for informative text listed below and inside the resource. There are comprehension questions that require students to look back in the text. They'll be fully engaged to find the answers they need to help Santa! Plus, they'll be learning about other traditions at the same time.
  • It also includes extra activities for the ones who finish early. They'll have a word search, a Christmas card to personalize, and a coloring page.
  • Are you wondering if you can pull off an escape room or scavenger hunt in your class? No worries! I've included two pages of lesson plan instructions and a two page teacher guide. There's no envelopes, no hiding things around the room, and no extra work for you. It's as easy as printing out the student pages and letting them work on the challenges.

This practically NO-PREP resource is in printable PDF format. All your students need are pencils, and perhaps a box of crayons. You can use this year after year.
