Christmas STEM Challenge: Jingle All The Way - PPT - Grades 5-8

This Christmas STEM Challenge: Jingle All The Way will get your students thinking and team-building in those days leading up to Winter Break! Plus, this activity incorporates critical thinking, collaboration, drawing, and measurement in addition to scientific engineering skills.


This product presents a scenario to the students where Santa needs a new sleigh. Students are asked to design a sleigh that is lightweight and sturdy out of common household items that can tolerate the weight of the many presents Santa has to deliver all over the world. Students complete the STEM Design Steps throughout this process and eventually will test their prototypes, troubleshoot any issues, and redesign to try to yield a better product. Students can compete against each other in a friendly competition to see whose sleigh prototype will be able to carry the most presents.
