What educators are saying

This is the perfect activity for stations. I love that kids can complete it independently. This was also the perfect activity for the week before winter break.
Thanks for the great resource . It was nice to have something different and engaging for my students to use.

Description

This Christmas-themed Order of Operations Mini Math Mystery game is perfect to help your class with operations and algebraic thinking. Specifically, the Christmas activities are useful for students beginning to learn PEMDAS. These Xmas mysteries and worksheets include parenthesis, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction (NO exponents, so great for beginners).

Mini Math Mysteries are engaging math activities that are designed to be done in one class period. There are 5x Math Mysteries in this pack. At the top of each page is a story to set the scene of the mystery, students then answer 16 questions to narrow down the suspects and options until they have solved these daily math questions.

This resource contains

5 x Color order of operations math mysteries

5 x Black and White versions of the same mysteries

5 x Answer pages (Marking Key)

1 x Teacher instruction page for a print and go activity

1 x Color in page for Early Finishers

These order of operations worksheets provide an opportunity to practice math skills as well as problem solving skills in a more practical context. The high interest topic of Xmas in these mysteries are also highly motivating for this age group and will capture their imagination.

These math mysteries are designed for third, fourth, and fifth grade students. Could also be used with struggling sixth-grade students who need a little extra work and reinforcement in algebra (or advanced, gifted and talented second grade). I also leave some of the mysteries for my sub-teacher.

Math Mysteries are an independent escape room (or crack the code) type of activity where instead of using locks, students identify suspects with puzzles and word problems. This mystery is perfect for Christmas in December and suits both theNorthern and Southern hemispheres Christmas (Summer in the sand and beach or Winter in the snow, Christmas around the World) Same time of year as Chanukah and Kwanzaa
