What educators are saying

This activity was so great! The students loved sharing where their elf would be and then writing about it!
This was the perfect activity to help get my class excited about our elf! It was the perfect writing activity, and even gave 'the elf' some ideas for hiding places!

Description

Do you have a classroom elf who visits the students each day in December with a fun message or trick? Or, do many of your students have an elf who lives on a shelf at home? Extend students' thinking with this narrative writing prompt, which asks them what they would do if they were an elf who lives on a shelf.

This product encourages students to critically think while enhancing their Common Core writing skills for narrative writing (W.2.3, W.3.3, W.4.3). Students are provided with a graphic organizer which helps them organize their thoughts into a sequential story with a closing. Once the students have completed their brainstorming, then they can transfer the information to a final story board. This would look awesome on a bulletin board or in the hallway!

What's Included:
• Graphic Organizer (1 page in pdf)
• Final Story Board with Solid Lines (1 page in pdf)
• Final Story Board with Dotted Lines and Prompts (1 page in pdf)
