Christmas; Happy Birthday, Baby Jesus

One way I help my students to understand the meaning of Christmas is to throw a birthday party for Jesus. From party hats to cake, we have a celebration to remember! I am able to share the Christmas story in a way which my students can relate to. We wear party hats, make a cake, sing Happy Birthday to Baby Jesus, and then celebrate the miracle of Christmas! Parents often contact me after Christmas to let me know how their children seemed to really understand the meaning of Christmas after our birthday party!

Included in this packet are some resources I use to help create a fun learning experience.
1. Happy Birthday Crowns for students to create and wear.
2. Happy Birthday, Baby Jesus: A four-page emergent reader to the tune of Happy Birthday with pictures of important people who helped celebrate Jesus' birthday!
3. 5 coloring pages featuring Christmas bible verses or phrases.
4. Gifts For A Newborn King: A classsroom-created book where students illustrate birthday presents for Jesus.
5. Create-Your-Own Nativity Scene: All the pieces needed to create a nativity scene of Christmas. (I have included a manager as well, although I prefer to use popsicle sticks to create the outline of the manger and then allow the students to fill in the people and animals.
