What does this set of December vocabulary riddles include?

* 24 riddle cards, printing at two per page

* The same 24 riddles in full-page format

* 24 illustrated answer cards (word and picture)

* 24 picture cards

* A bingo game that uses the same riddle card - 25 student bingo cards are included!

* A template to guide your students in writing their own riddles

* A ready-to-use Easel overlay so you and your students can use the riddle cards
on digital devices.

How can I use these Christmas riddle activities in my classroom?

* Solve a riddle in your classroom each day in the days leading up to Christmas. Your students will look forward to it every day! You'll even be able to use some of the riddles to introduce your holiday read alouds, like The Gingerbread Boy or The Legend of the Poinsettia.

* Use the cards to model how to use reading comprehension strategies: identifying key details, make inferences, and draw conclusions.

* Use the riddle cards with the bingo game in a small group.

* Here's an idea for using the full-page riddles: display a card on your interactive board for your students to solve, in the morning before your students arrive or before they return to the classroom from recess.

* After you've solved the riddle cards together, put them in a literacy center.

* Put a set of riddle cards and picture/word answer cards in your pocket chart center.

* Riddle cards are great for early finishers and challenge work!

* Independent readers will enjoy using the Easel digital overlay to read and solve the riddles on their own.
