Description

This Chinese Philosophies project involves students designing a “Help Wanted Ad” with a specific focus on the philosophies of Confucianism, Daoism and Legalism. To set the scene, your students live in ancient China and have been chosen to design a help wanted advertisement for one of the following philosophies - Legalism, Daoism or Confucianism. The founder of the chosen philosophy is hoping to hire an assistant to help guide people in the philosophy. The task of your students is to create a help wanted ad describing the chosen philosophy with a focus on the founder and the teachings of the philosophy. Additionally, an optional extension project is included in the resource in which students apply for the job by creating a career portfolio.

This Chinese Philosophy project includes a detailed introduction for students along with an explanation of the specific requirements of the task. Students are also provided with a planning template with space for note taking. A description of the task and requirements are also detailed for the extension project. Additionally, over 20 pages of templates are included. Finally, a student reflection concludes the project.

Included in this Chinese Philosophies resource:

  • An introduction to the help wanted advertisement
  • An explanation of requirements
  • Planning and note-taking space
  • Extension activity (create a career portfolio)
  • 24 pages of templates (for the main assignment and extension activity)
  • A rubric
  • A student reflection
