Description
Looking at the Chinese Lunar New Year 2024 Year of the Dragon traditions and festivals in China is a great way for your students to learn about another culture and its customs. This pack includes information on the Chinese Lunar New Year (Spring Festival) celebrations, the origins, and the customs observed during the Chinese New Year.
This pack also includes fun facts and details about the Chinese zodiac allowing your class to explore the different positive and negative traits assigned to each animal.
Whether as a class you choose to explore the Year of the Dragon (2024) or the year your students were born there is a cover design to suit.
I have also included an easy-to-follow chart to enable you to establish what zodiac animal your students were born under - this is especially important for those born in January or February as the lunar new year starts on a different day each year.
The flipbook provides you with a fun way for your students to show their learning and creates a fabulous wall display.
The flipbook comes separated for different grades, within the grades, there are also some choices of pages allowing you to differentiate based on your student's learning needs (of course you can print any of the pages from any of the sections if you need to differentiate more).
In the Chinese Lunar New Year pack, you will find
- 28 information cards about the Lunar New Year, China, Chinese Lunar New Year, traditions, and the Lantern Festival - these cards also come in a PowerPoint version
- 12 zodiac information cards and reference sheet
- Vocabulary Wall Cards
- 2 Graphic Organizers
- Cut and paste pages for the flipbooks
- 12 covers to choose from for the flipbooks (one for each of the signs of the zodiac)
- Differentiated pages to make a flipbook to demonstrate students' understanding of the Chinese Lunar New Year (these allow you to cater to your student's learning levels).
The flipbooks are designed for 3 levels - Kindergarten/Grade 1, Grade 2/3, and Grade 3/4. Just choose the pages to suit your needs.
NOTE: While the Lunar New Year is celebrated in more countries than China, this pack focuses on the traditional celebrations held within China, as each country, while having some similarities, has its ways of celebrating the Lunar New Year. The information slides/cards do acknowledge the other countries that celebrate Lunar New Year.
While the pack is listed as 90 pages there are 136 pages in total, the information and zodiac pages are repeated in ink-friendly pages and black and white pages to suit your printing needs.
This is a zip file - you will need to extract the file first - this will give you access to both the printable version and the PowerPoint version of the information cards.
►Please note this pack is not editable
