Learn about the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, with a look at its origins and how it is celebrated in China! Comes with easy one-dimensional paper lantern craft you may hang in hallways or on bulletin boards!

This product includes:

• Lesson that introduces students to the Mid-Autumn (Moon) Festival in China - an Adobe file in a slideshow format of images with embedded notes on each slide that you may read from your computer as you project images for students to view on classroom projection board
• Lesson includes abridged versions of 2 stories - the Myth of Chang'e and the Myth of the Jade Rabbit
• Paper Lantern Craft - instructions for making a one-dimensional wax resist and watercolor Chinese paper lantern with images of each step and materials to source
• 3 Templates - Chinese Hanging Lanterns, the Moon Goddess Chang'e, and the Jade Rabbit

Materials to make one lantern are: chosen template (Lanterns, Chang’e, or Jade Rabbit) printed on white card stock measuring 8.5"x11", 2 colored pieces of card stock each 2”x3”, bigger piece of colored card stock measuring 2”x5.5”, crayons, watercolor set (like Crayola) or liquid watercolors that have been diluted, cotton balls or large paint brush, string, hole punch, scissors, glue stick, bowl of water, and paper towel. One 8.5”x11” sheet of colored printer paper for a backing is optional.
