Chemical Reactions Stop Motion Project

What educators are saying
Description
Stop motion videos are a great way to allow students to be creative while showcasing their understanding of chemical reactions. For this project students will be given five skeleton equations which they must balance, classify, and accurately model using stop motion. Students can create stop motion videos with free apps or Google Slides.
The directions include project checkpoints linked as Google Forms that can be used for all students or for modification purposes. Each Google form is set as a quiz with the answers included. The project also comes with a 30 point rubric and teacher tip sheet that includes a sample project video and a student instruction video, making this a no-prep assessment that can be used in place of, in or additional, to a traditional test. This project is also an assessment for remote learning.
Topics include:
- parts of chemical equations (reactants, products)
- balancing equations
- synthesis (combination) reactions
- decomposition reactions
- single displacement (replacement) reactions
- double displacement (replacement) reactions
- combustion reactions
- conservation of matter (atomic rearrangement)
