Description

59 pages of meaningful activities!

My Grades 1/2 students have absolutely loved reading this book as a whole-class read aloud! I've taught this novel twice now and have used a variety of digital and hardcopy study guides - but this document has everything I ever wanted and needed for our studies.

After reading a chapter or two, children complete after-reading activities in their duotangs.

This entire package is black and white for easier photocopying.

At the end of our novel, students create their own candy (planning sheet included) and present it for an oral communication and media literacy grade. Also, students can watch one (or both) of the Willy Wonka movie adaptations and complete the Venn Diagram included for an additional media literacy activity.

This study of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl includes:
- 3 cover pages to choose from
- 3 Venn Diagrams {text to self connections, media literacy, character descriptions}
- character analysis and visualization {multiple characters}
- template of the Bucket Family Tree
- "word collector" for recording neat words {expanded over 2 pages for primary writers!}
- 12 Frayer Model graphic organizers with words for Expanding Vocabulary
- a blank Frayer Model template
- a world map for labelling countries mentioned in the book
- question-writing / interview
- "chocolate" acrostic poem template
- chocolate and the 5 senses {graphic organizer}
- a minilesson / miniactivity on the CH digraph
- summary pages {multiple chapters}
- unhealthy habit analysis and advice writing {multiple characters}
- opinion writing (Fizzy Lifting Room) {develop critical thinking!}
- create-your-own candy summative project
- Wonka candy box analysis {media literacy}
- 4 jelly bean colour graphs {differentiated math - same activity}
* two sets of graphs - one for American version (color) and another for Canadian/UK version (colour)
