The activity includes 8 primary sources excerpts from a 1,200-year-old biography of the "King of the Franks" that can be easily understood by your students. Each helps students understand about Charlemagne's life and personality so they can analyze him as a leader.
A graphic organizer page is included for students to use with the sources along with a worksheet of analysis questions. Students reflect on his leadership ability and compare that to a political leader of today.
