The following 6 resources are included in this Character Traits Bundle:

    1. No Prep Character Traits Activities

This character trait resource contains no prep reading and writing activities to help students practice skills related to character traits.

    This resource includes:

    • 3 cut and paste character trait activities
    • 3 original character trait reading passages with questions and activities / scaffolded graphic organizers (requiring text evidence)
    • "Would You Rather..." Character Trait Questions
    • 2 short stories based off of fairy tales that students are asked to rewrite, giving certain characters different character traits
    • 3 short character trait writing prompts and writing paper
    • 1 original character trait reading comprehension passage with multiple choice questions to help you with test prep / test review or to use as a character trait assessment
    • 3 reusable graphic organizers

    2. Character Traits: Building Vocabulary

When teaching character traits, often one of the most difficult skills for students to grasp is the vocabulary associated with character traits. This character trait resource is designed to help students improve their understanding of the vocabulary associated with character traits. Included in this resource are:

    • 3 pages of character trait word sorts to help build vocabulary
    • 1 character trait scavenger hunt with answer sheet
    • 2 character trait word sort continuum activities to help students consider the connotations of different words
    • 1 character trait vocabulary anchor chart/reference sheet
    • 3 character trait worksheets for students to apply what they have learned
    • 1 character trait mobile activity
    • answer keys

    3. Character Traits Centers

Three centers to help your students review character traits in a fun way!

    First Center: Character Trait Mazes

Students are given a character trait. In order for them to complete the maze correctly, students must shade in sentences that say something a character with that trait would say, do, or think.

Included: 5 character trait mazes, a student recording sheet to help you understand your students' thinking, and answer keys.

    Second Center: Character Traits Spin

Students use a pencil and a paper clip to "spin" a certain character trait. Then, they have to write down a paragraph explaining something that a character with that trait would do, say, or think. 3 different pages with different spinners are included.

    Third Center: Character Traits Sort

This can be an independent, partner, or small group activity. Students must match up paragraphs that describe something a character with the correct character trait.

Included: 6 character trait cards, 18 detail cards, student recording sheet, and answer key

The centers are fairly low prep. The Character Trait Mazes and Character Traits Spin just need to be printed and copies. The Character Trait Sort require a little cutting and optional laminating.

    4. Character Traits Task Cards

Character Traits Task Cards! A fun way for students to practice the vocabulary associated with character traits. Students must read the task card, and then use the clues to make an inference about a character's traits.

    This resource contains:

    • 24 character trait task cards
    • An answer sheet that requires students to list the character trait and explain how they figured out their answer
    • An answer key

    5. Character Traits Word Wall

Use this word wall to help build your students' character trait vocabulary. Instead of using words like "nice" or "smart" to describe different characters, this word wall will encourage them to use words like "compassionate" or "skillful."

Have students help you sort the words into groups based on their synonyms. Or, for a bigger challenge, have students sort the words based on their "shades of meaning."

    6. Character Traits Lists

These 4 character traits lists can be used to help expand your students' character trait vocabulary.

    1. A page of positive character traits

    2. A page of neutral character traits

    3. A page of negative character traits

    4. A page of character traits sorted by synonyms

Check out the preview to see everything that is included in this 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade resource.
