What educators are saying

My students loved using this. They loved exploring their strengths. This ia a great, positive resource, that helps to create a positive vibe in the classroom.
I used this in September and found it a fantastic way to start off the year with students. It helps me get to know my new class, and it helps them get to know themselves and peers better! I think this will become a permanent unit to start my year with from now on!

CHARACTER STRENGTHS - THE PACK OF POSITIVITY

Engagement is a pillar of wellbeing identified by Martin Seligman, psychologist, educator and promotor of positive psychology. Character strengths have been defined as something we ALL possess — yep, all 24! They are strengths that we’re born with. Some surface more than others, some require development and some we rarely see.

You can identify your top 5 strengths, better known as your SIGNATURE STRENGTHS, by taking a quiz created by Martin Seligman himself. It’s called the VIA Character Strength Quiz. Once you know your top 5 Signature Strengths, you can capitalise on these to live a happier life! GENIUS!

There is such thing as overuse and underuse of these strengths. Whilst you have strengths... you want to use them in an optimum manner.

For example, the strength of bravery:

1. Overuse: you are a huge risk taker and put yourself in dangerous situations.

2. Underuse: you’re reluctant to try new things or give life a real go.

3. Optimum use: you take risks in your learning, aren’t afraid to make mistakes and you step out of your comfort zone!

What's included?

  • The 24 Character Strength colour chart word display (designed to be stuck to the wall each time you learn about a new strength)
  • The 24 Character Strength colour chart word display with definitions (designed to be stuck to the wall each time you learn about a new strength)
  • Blank Character Strength posters/cards for students to visually depict the specific strength (this could be used for personal use, class poster display or whole school focus where 24 posters are designed throughout the school).
  • 24 Character Strength Card prompts — start each day defining a new character strength and participate in a short/sharp class activity that is of relevance to the day’s strength
  • Teacher Wellbeing activity designed to guide teachers through the identification of character strengths
  • The research!

Once you’re aware of your strengths, it makes sense to reflect on optimum use and... use this to your strength! It’s all about capitalising on what you’re good at!
