What educators are saying

This is such a complete resource. I was able to use it for my whole group lesson and also for small group. It really helped my students understand perspective and point of view.
I love the graphic organizers. It helps students identify evidence and then determine the perspective.

Description

Students sometimes struggle with finding perspective and changing perspective in writing, but this resource can simplify the process. The lesson slideshow provides for direct instruction and guided practice. The independent worksheets give students the opportunity to practice identifying perspectives and writing from one character's perspective.

The lesson also helps students differentiate between first-person and third-person point of view.

The students will analyze 1st and 3rd person narratives involving two characters to identify each character’s perspective.

★The examples during instruction highlight the important details the author provides to help us reach a conclusion and presents the students with a look at how stories change when presented from a different perspective.

Scaffolded instruction in the slideshow includes:
building background knowledge and making connections
→ direct instruction with modeling and analytical thinking
guided practice for students
→ and independent work.

During independent practice, they will analyze a text for character perspective then change the 3rd person narrative to a 1st person account.
