Character Movement & Voice Posters: Bogart's Viewpoints, Laban's Efforts, & More
Description
I used this packet to teach a high school acting workshop on making clear vocal and physical characterization choices, and how to use these techniques to add context to contentless scripts between 2 actors.
This packet can be used as posters or a slideshow to teach students about theatre director Anne Bogart's 5 vocal viewpoints and 9 physical viewpoints from her book, The Viewpoints Book. The posters include terms and definitions, plus some videos and other resources about her work.
It also includes terms, definitions, a chart, a video, and other resources for the 8 Efforts by Rudolf Laban. I also included 3 sample characters from film and theatre that have distinct vocal and physical characterizations.
This packet also comes with a handout that includes all of Bogart's and Laban's terms.
I also included some bonus material: slides (still in PDF form) featuring hyperlinked videos about the role of a movement director, the Stanislavski acting technique, the Meisner acting technique, and the Rasaboxes acting technique by Richard Schechner.
