Description
Do your instrumental students enjoy independent, yet collaborative work? Are they used to being engaged in the rehearsal process? Help them develop critical thinking skills while improving their confidence and pride as musicians.
Involve your students in chamber music as part of a concert cycle using class time for student-led, small group rehearsals. Based on models used successfully in ELA instruction, students rotate through different leadership roles in the rehearsal process as they prepare their own ensemble for performance with teacher guidance.
This unit is designed for advanced middle school or high school students in a band or orchestra setting. Included are teacher notes, a syllabus for students, a rehearsal plan worksheet, and a grid for listing personnel and repertoire.
