Description

This lesson plan is free to use and includes resources from experts. This purchase will include the Escape Room Clues included in the lesson.

I teach high school social studies but have been creating a Social-Emotional Curriculum for many years for all of our high school students as a spin-off project from Student Council. As an avid teacher of psychology and sociology, I am grateful to teach Social Emotional Lessons at our high school. This spin-off project can be taught in your own classroom or in homerooms. Find out how I used it on a blog that I write for by going to teachwithpurpose.org

This Escape Room works with the Challenges, Adversity & Perseverance free lesson which includes a slide show, guided notes for SPED or ELD learners, an escape room, lockbox, lockbox directions, and a reflection/exit ticket. Lessons have links to outside sources used. While my intention is to set aside 15-20 minutes, it is possible to add more discussion or more resources to help students learn the material. This escape room was done with small groups of students and completed in less than 30 minutes.

I pride myself on looking for and using materials meant for high school students that won't come across as "corny." Because of this, the lessons can easily be adapted to late middle school and adult learners easily. I am TRIBES training certified, as well as a certified instructional coach. My curriculum sets follow and meet ASCA & Wisconsin Social Emotional standards using a standards-based proficiency structure. However, it is essential to include all tasks in a series to meet the standards set.

I hope that these lessons meet your needs and if I can support you in any way. Please email i.teach.with.purpose@gmail.com with any suggestions, comments, or if you would like free products by joining our mailing list.
