C'est bientôt Noël (modern French Christmas song with activities)

Looking for an authentic, modern French Christmas song? C’est bientôt Noël by Keen’V will get your students tapping their toes. Although intended for levels 2 and higher, this can also be adapted for level 1 students.

Included in this packet are a biography of the artist, with an exercise based on vocabulary, spelling, conjugations, etc. Several questions are included to brainstorm and personalize the theme before the first time listening to the song.

There are two exercises to do while listening: the first is based on homophones (deciding which spelling of the word is correct among the options, all based on contextual clues); the second is finding the words that are NOT sung (good for discriminating sounds).

Another exercise personalizes the song by asking the students’ point of view and/or memories based on the lyrics.

Finally, two essay questions are proposed if you chose to follow this up with a written assignment.
