Ceramics - Pinch Pot Projects & Technique Handouts - BUNDLE

This bundle includes two pinch construction projects and four how-to visual handouts detailing the steps of making a pinch pot, adding height to a pinch pot with coils, adding a foot to the bottom of a pinch pot with coils, and connecting two pinch pots together.

Pinch Monster Project

Project Objectives: Create a monster sculpture by scoring and slipping a minimum of two pinch pots together.

This lesson includes several resources for introducing a pinch pot project into your ceramics curriculum. Resources include a project introduction slideshow featuring artists Chris Ryniak, Amanda Louise Spayd, James DeRosso, Katherine Moraller, and Eva Funderburgh, and student-made examples of the project. This bundle also includes a greenware rubric, artist statement guiding questions, a student project plan slideshow template, a student checklist for their project plan, and a step-by-step visual instruction handout that details how to score and slip two pinch pots together.

This unit can take two to three weeks to complete, depending on the scale of student work.

Textured Pinch Mugs Project

Project Objectives: Create a textured mug using the pinch construction technique that incorporates additive or subtractive texture.

Advanced Project Option: Create a sculptural mug using the pinch construction technique that incorporated nature imagery.

This lesson includes several resources for introducing a pinch pot project into your ceramics curriculum. Resources include a project introduction slideshow featuring artists Christopher David White, Margaret Bohls, Katie Marks, and student-made examples of the project. This unit also includes a greenware rubric, artist statement guiding questions, an editable student project plan slideshow template, and a student checklist for their project plan.

This unit can take two to three weeks to complete, depending on the scale of student work.
