✨WHAT'S INCLUDED?
- COVER PAGE: A cover page with real pictures representing the category as well as a child-friendly description of the category.
- DOT PAGE: The page with 6 dots can act as a pretest/post-test for you to track progress for a given category.
- INTERACTIVE PAGES: There are two pages that have words assiciated to category for students to trace ( to help with fine motor and phonological awareness ) as well as a 'Connection Question' to help make the activity more meaningful.
- SEARCH PAGES: There are three 'Search' pages. These pages have a variety of images and the student must locate the items for the targeted category and then state what that item is in a sentence. *text sentence frame provided on page.
- SORTING PAGES: There are two pages for students to sort out images into the targeted category. A variety of category images and non-category images are provided so many different combinations can be made.
- LISTENING COMPREHENSION: There are 5 questions ( 1 page ) for the student to listen to and determine if the item mentioned is/is not part of the target category.

WHY THE 'CATEGORY KIT'?
✏ Research Based: A study by LaTourette and Waxman 2018, showed that providing toddlers with just two labeled examples from a category was sufficient in initiating the process of object categorization and allowed them to add unlabeled items to their categories. This study part of the inspiration for this resource
✏ Easy To Teach: A mix of images and real pictures are used to make this resource accessible for learners at every age. A variety of different tasks allows students to progress their knowledge from learning and items name to using it with a purpose.
