What educators are saying

Fantastic recourse! My students enjoyed the activities. A great addition to my public speaking class! Thank you for sharing.
I used this career project with my Occupational Course of Study students when we could not go out in the community to earn work hours. My students found it engaging and easy to follow.

Description

Career exploration is an important life skill for students! This career readiness project is perfect as a career day project.

Give students the chance to think about what their future careers or job might be. Students will examine their own interests and then fill out a resume and job application before going on a job interview in front of their peers.

They will think about their hobbies and work habits as they explore the 6 different career clusters. They will then fill out a career interest inventory to narrow down a career they may be interested in pursuing.

Students will complete a project on the career that they choose. They will research that career using a notes page to determine the skills necessary. Students will fill out a resume and a job application. Additionally, they will create a business card advertising their new career.

After they have completed these steps, students will go on an interview in front of their classmates. They will dress up as though they already have the job. Their classmates will ask them interview questions (provided on cards that you will pass out). Students will answer the questions as their peers take notes on their strengths and areas for improvement. Also included is a rubric for you to grade students on their final presentations.
