BRIEF LESSON OVERVIEW:

1. Warm-up - Good/Bad Sentence match: Students are introduced to the topic and their prior knowledge is assessed.
2. Rule Presentation: The various capitalization and punctuation rules are presented using good and bad examples.
3. Understanding Check: Students' understanding is checked by having them edit a passage that is void of all punctuation and capitalization.
4. Error Hunt: Students look at real-world samples of student writing and race to find the most number of capitalization and punctuation errors.
5. Exit Check: Students quickly edit a simple sentence in order to leave the classroom.
