Description
This assignment has been designed for the grade 10 Civics course in Ontario, Canada (CHV2O).
In this assignment, students are required to choose one right or freedom from the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. They will be required to complete three tasks in this assignment:
- Task # 1: Define their chosen right/freedom in their own words
- Task # 2: Form two student-inquiry questions relating to the chosen right/freedom. Conduct research to find the answers to their two questions
- Task # 3: Find a news article showing an example of how their chosen right/freedom was violated in Canada. Students are required to summarize their news article by answering the 5W questions and are asked to explain how their right/freedom was violated.
Students are asked to complete their rough work on the provided templates and then to compile their work into a polished and attractive final copy (poster).
A rubric has been included to help save you time. The rubric has been divided into 4 categories (Knowledge/Understanding, Thinking/Inquiry, Communication, Application) according to the achievement chart in the Ontario curriculum documents.
