Description

This 30 cards set of digital task cards helps students in developing key skills associated with forces and the laws of motion. This Boom deck focuses on improving students' ability to interpret force diagrams, calculate net forces, and identify whether forces are balanced or unbalanced. The interactive resource offers varied practice opportunities and levels of complexity to help maintain students' engagement as they develop their mastery in calculating net force. The scaffolded activity has been segmented from other concepts (e.g. identifying types of forces, determining motion of objects) so that students can focus solely on the concept of net force and minimize cognitive overload. The use of visual models promote science literacy and numeracy skill development. Boom Cards provide students with instant feedback, making them perfect for E-Learning and distance learning activities.

This activity incorporates the following skills:

  • Differentiating between balanced forces and unbalanced forces
  • Interpreting force diagrams
  • Completing force diagrams
  • Calculating net force
  • Using the net force to determine whether forces are balanced or unbalanced
  • Determining direction of net force

This resource is best aimed at students who have recently been introduced to the concept of net force, how to calculate it and how it determines whether the forces acting on an object are balanced or unbalanced. Students who have previously learnt this concept, but need a refresher, would also benefit from this activity.

This activity complements a number of my other resources on this topic:

  • They are a massive time saver for you - No printing, cutting, laminating, sorting, or packaging.
  • Digitally interactive for your students, different types of cards, randomized order of cards, and instant student feedback for each card.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Make sure to review the preview document for this activity.
  • Understand these are digital task cards that can only be played on the Boom Learning site. You can't download the deck to your computer or use through other digital platforms.
  • When you purchase this resource, you will receive a PDF document that includes a specific link to the Boom deck you have purchased. By clicking on the product link, you will be connected to the Boom Learning website. You will need to either create a new account to get started or sign into your existing Boom Learning account.
  • You are unable to edit Boom decks - this includes adding additional cards to a purchased deck. You can 'remove' a card from play by using the 'hide card' feature. This doesn't delete the card, it just hides it from your students' access. You can 'unhide' the card later to add the card back to your deck.
  • If an update is made to the deck you have purchased (such as additional cards being added by me), this will be reflected in the deck of Boom Cards you have purchased.
  • From Boom Learning site - “With your Teachers Pay Teachers purchase, users new to Boom Learning get a three-month free trial of student progress reporting for up to 150 students. Your trial includes the ability to make up to 5 free DIY decks. You may upgrade or cancel at any time.
