FAQ's:
Why is there a different amount of passages in each unit? Each unit varies in length. Unit 1 has 32 lessons as where Unit 5 as 21 lessons. Also, CKLA does not teach one skill per week like other programs.
Are all the first grade tricky words used in the passages? Almost of the them. The only Tricky Words not used are 'word', 'today', 'tomorrow', 'cow', and 'stagecoach'.
The lesson number at the bottom of the page doesn't match the phonics skills taught in that lesson. Why? That's because a Tricky Word in a later lesson is in that passage. The unit and lesson numbers are to tell you when you can expose your students to the passage.
Do I really need these? CKLA has fluency passages in the workbook. True, but there aren't many. Plus, these are good for students who aren't reading as fast as other students. It's a great way to differentiate! Also, I make sure my passages contain a good amount of words matching the phonics skills being taught.
Are the passages editable? No.
