CAST (CA Science Test) Skills Review Bundle

Understanding the Science and Engineering Practices is vital to performing well on the California Science Test (CAST). This bundle is designed to review common skills that students will need to perform well on the CAST.

This bundle includes:

• CAST Review Worksheets that focus on the Science and Engineering Practices
• Worksheet: Identifying Claim, Evidence and Reasoning in an Argument
• Worksheet based overview (introductory level) to Independent and Dependent Variable

My strategy for reviewing for the CAST test this year is to focus heavily on the Science and Engineering Practices. A high portion of the released test questions contain tables and graphs that students must understand and interpret.

The review worksheets were created looking at the terminology and structure of the released test questions. The other two resources are worksheets that I used to initially teach these practices in the beginning of the year. They are designed for students who do not have a complete grasp of these concepts.
