Description
This is a really fun way to teach something that can be incredibly dry. Begin by teaching students a quick overview of the six types - Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Corporations, LLC's, Franchises, and Non-Profits. A colorful PowerPoint is included which goes over all the business structures and has a short quiz at the end that you can go over as a class. There is also a video version of the lecture that is great for students who are online and unable to participate easily in the Escape Room. Included is a Socrative Quiz that they can take either at the end of the PowerPoint or after the Escape Room to check for understanding. (Excel and Google versions of the PowerPoint are included.) I also added a Gimkit review if you use Gimkit. If you don't use Gimkit, I highly recommend it!
After determining the proper definitions, students then enter the escape room. here is NO PREP required for this activity. You don't have to print anything, buy anything, or cut anything out. It's entirely self-contained. However, it is highly recommended you go through it yourself the first time you teach it.
***MASSIVE UPDATE, OCTOBER 2023!!***
As of October 2023, I have completely revamped this escape room to make it quicker to complete and easier to figure out. If you have purchased it in the past, you will want to re-download for the new version! The Escape Room acts as an interactive worksheet, giving students immediate feedback when they get the right answer or solve the puzzle. A scoresheet will keep track of how they are doing automatically, for easy grading and as a study aide for the exam. The entire escape room is contained in a spreadsheet, and both Excel and Google versions are available.
I have also included a non-escape room version that can be done very quickly. I use this for students who are absent or working online.
My students loved this activity! Not all of them finished, and those who didn't were begging for more time! The answer key is included for the escape room portion and for the Answer sheet. Full step by step instructions as well as tips and tricks are also included.
