    Description

In this a bundle of two separate power point presentations on The Middle Ages: Torture Practices and Weapons of War during the Middle Ages. The combined presentation includes 31 slides that are highly animated and editable so you can modify the slides if you need to.

The Medieval period of the Middle Ages was violent and blood thirsty. The cruel and pitiless feeling which induced legislators to increase the horrors of tortures, also contributed to the aggravation of the fate of prisoners. Law or custom did not prescribe any fixed rules for the treatment of hapless prisoners who faced torture. Torture chambers were included in many castles. Different types of torture were used depending on the victim's crime and social status. Devices or tools were used to inflict unbearable agony on a victim. The practice of torturing victims continued and was only abolished in England in 1640.

The quest for wealth and power in the Middle Ages was driven by the violent culture of the European countries. The period was extremely violent and lands were subject to invasion. Castles were built to act as military forts and the power bases to wage war when needed. This violence created the need for a variety of weapons to suit the fighting men of the era.

The fighting in Europe had a brief respite when the attentions of the Medieval warlords turned their attention to the Holy Land. Weapons were created to support the Knights Templar, Teutonic Knights and the Hospitallers to fight in the crusades.
