Description
From PowerPoints to handouts to exam questions, every item in my store that has anything to do with philosophy is included except for the C.S. Lewis PowerPoints and the worksheets for the Crash Course Philosophy YouTube videos (only to keep the cost down since I didn't figure that there would be as much interest in these).
The preview and thumbnail images are taken from the Introduction to Western Philosophy PowerPoint to give you an idea of the quality of the PowerPoint presentations. The Introduction to Western Philosophy PowerPoint alone has 36 slides which gives you an idea on just how much content is included in the entire bundle.
Although these PowerPoints can be taught in any order, the following order is recommended. It begins with more of a historical approach (to some degree) and then switches to a more topical approach (presentations grouped by subject matter).
1. Introduction to Western Philosophy
2. The Value of Philosophy - Bertrand Russell
3. The Presocratics
4. Plato - The Allegory of the Cave
5. The Euthyphro Dilemma
6. The Apology - by Plato
7. Crito - by Plato
Having introduced the student to Western Philosophy, I would then switch to a thematic approach where I focused on certain subjects. These can be done in any order to some degree.
8. Introduction to Critical Thinking
9. Introduction to Logic
10. Introduction to Epistemology
11. Rene Descartes' Rationality
12. David Hume's Empiricism
13. Introduction to Ethics
14. Aristotle and Virtue Ethics
15. Epicureanism
16. Stoicism
17. Buddhism
18. John Stuart Mill & Utilitarianism
19. Kant and Deontological Ethics
20. The Sermon on the Mount - Jesus
21. Confessions by Augustine
22. Introduction to Christian Ethics - Part I
23. John Rawls "Justice as Fairness"
24. Peter Singer - Famine, Affluence, and Morality
25. My Confessions by Leo Tolstoy- Part 1
26. My Confessions by Leo Tolstoy- Part 2
27. William James - The Will to Believe
28. Logotherapy - Viktor Frankl (PowerPoint w/ PDF Reading)
At this point, you could end in a more random fashion with the more "isolated" presentations.
29. Mind-Body Philosophy
30. The Problem of Evil (which could also be placed after the Euthyphro Dilemma)
31. PHILOSOPHY Bell Ringer Exercises (a ton of fun!)
Recently Added:
32. The Philosophy of John Locke (this would probably fit well after the PPTX on David Hume)
33. Philosophy of Free Will (this would go nicely by #29 Mind-Body Philosophy)
34. Moral Universalism and Moral Relativism
35. Introduction to Feminist Ethics
