• This project is great for an End of Year project!

• The G.R.A.P.E.S. of civilization slideshow and notes would be a fantastic back to school / beginning of the year lesson you could carry though each civilization you study.

• If you know you will be out for a day this project can work for sub plans during research or slide creation days after initial instructions.

• This can be a great observation lesson if you limit students to researching a single civilization you are currently studying, with the G.R.A.P.E.S. lesson and the Google Slides lesson

This project can be completed individually or in small groups of 2 or 3.

The first step is to give students the instruction sheet, then go through the slideshow so they can follow along. It has worked well to give the instruction sheet first in case they have questions, and want to make notes first. I also post the instruction sheet and rubric on the Google Classroom. 

After going through instructions, hand out the research document. Next, allow each student or student group to choose a civilization. Make sure to tell them to write down their civilization on their research document, as someone will forget 5 minutes later. 

I have allowed for 2 days to conduct research, 2 days to create the slideshow, then presentations on the 5th day. If you are doing individual projects you may need to schedule two days for presentations.
